2017 DARTMOUTH PE SNOWSPORTS PRICING AND DETAILS

Adaptive, Alpine, Snowboard, and Telemark classes are only offered during the winter term.  Times of classes and fees are subject to change.

Before you choose a class, please check the bus schedule below to insure that you are able to arrive in time for your snowsports class and return to campus in time for your next academic class unless you have your own transportation.

ATTENDANCE AND PE CREDIT

Successful completion of this class for PE credit is based on your attendance. There are seven classes.  You must attend four of your classes during your regular class time.  Be sure your instructor records your attendance every week. This is your responsibility!   You can make up as many as three of your seven classes by going to the Skiway one time for each class missed, having your season pass swiped before 2:30PM, getting a lift ticket and skiing/riding without a class.  Your make-up day will thus be recorded electronically.  If you neglect to swipe your pass and obtain a lift ticket, you will not receive credit for that day.  We must close the Skiway computer system to check how many tickets an individual has received, so please retain your daily lift tickets as your record of attendance.  These tickets will also be needed to verify your attendance if you disagree with our records.  You cannot attend a class other than your own as a make-up.  If circumstances dictate that you make a permanent change of class section, each student may do so once.  Make-up days may be completed any day prior to March 1, 2017.  On make-up days, please do not ride any lift that you have not ridden with your class. You must leave campus no later than 2:00pm to receive credit for a Make-up day.

DRESS

The weather in this part of the country is very unpredictable and is subject to rapid change. Often, conditions at the mountain may greatly differ from those in town. Be prepared! Dressing in layers will allow you the greatest flexibility to adapt to changing conditions. As a guideline, have a layer next to the skin that will wick moisture away from the body. Your second layer(s) should provide warmth and insulation. The outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. Items often forgotten are your helmet, face protection (neck gaiter, scarf or face mask); eye protection (sunglasses and/or goggles with 100% U/V); skin protection (chapstick, skin cream, tissues); hand/feet protection (dry gloves, glove liners, dry socks, hand and foot heat packs).

Use a bag large enough to accommodate your boots, extra clothes and accessories. Keep these items together and ready to go, rather than looking for all of them every time you go to ski/ride.  Make sure your name is boldly marked on your bag. Leave valuables in your dorm. Lockers are available in the Lodge.

DAILY SKI LIFT TICKET

It is required that everyone get a lift pass each day that they ski. Your student ID will be encoded with your season lift pass on you first visit. Present your I. D. at the ticket window each visit to obtain your daily ticket.  Attach your ticket, date out, on the left side of a garment that you will wear for the rest of the day. Please throw the paper backing in the trash cans provided. If you do not have your ID, you will not get a ticket. Your attendance on make-up days is recorded electronically when you get your ticket, so you receive credit for the day only if you get a ticket. Keep your used lift tickets as a record of your class and make-up day attendance.
