Once again this year, the College of the Holy Cross is a national leader in the academic success of its student-athletes. Holy Cross had 75 percent of its teams earn NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) public recognition awards, the highest percentage in the country ahead of Gonzaga (73.3 percent) and Dartmouth (73.1 percent).
Senior forward Madelyn Ganser, a member of the Holy Cross women's basketball team, is the 2016-2017 recipient of the Samantha Vellaccio Award. In memory of Samantha Vellaccio, this award is given annually to the varsity women's basketball player who best exemplifies the mission of Holy Cross on and off the court.

Presented by the Holy Cross Varsity Club, the Allen Award goes to the player whose unselfish teamwork and dedication to the good of the team reflect the values lived by coach Allen.
