Weimer Voted Onto Women's Cross Country Academic All-Area Team

To cap off a phenomenal senior cross country campaign, senior Cassidy Weimer has been voted onto the Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Cross Country Academic All-Area Team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Selected by the 30 sports information offices of the Philadelphia metropolitan area, also known as PhillySIDA, the 2017 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Cross-Country Team recognizes student-athletes who athletically excel while contributing to their surrounding community and exceed a 3.20 GPA.

Women's Cross Country Earns Fifth at ECAC Championship

In her final collegiate cross country race, senior co-captain Cassidy Weimer ran the 5k in 18:10.8 to finish eighth in a field of 210 runners and to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a fifth-place team finish in a field of 25 teams at the 2017 ECAC Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday afternoon. Weimer and junior Lucy Harmon (15th) earned ECAC All-East honors for placing in the top 40.

Weimer Shines, Women's Cross Country Breaks Through for 13th at Regionals

Having been not ranked in the region's top 15 all season, the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad broke through with a gritty 13th-place showing in a field of 28 squads at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, held at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus on Friday morning. The Hawks knocked off three teams that had been regionally ranked heading into the meet - Lehigh, American, and Delaware - with their 423-point performance.

The Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad will head to the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship this Friday, November 10. The 6k race is slated to begin at 10:45 a.m., hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus.

Senior Cassidy Weimer led all Hawks with a 32nd-place individual finish as the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad placed 10th in a field of 14 teams at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted by George Mason University at the Oatlands Plantation on Saturday morning. Saint Joseph's averaged a 5k time of 19:12.96 and earned 237 points. Dayton won the meet with 42 points, followed by Richmond (61) and Davidson (67).

The Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad is set to race the 2017 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship this Saturday, October 28. Hosted by George Mason University at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va., the 5k race is scheduled to begin at 10:50 a.m. The Hawks, who finished seventh a year ago, were predicted to place seventh this fall according to the A-10's preseason poll, with voting conducted by the league's 14 head coaches back in late August.

Sophomore Rose Barrett placed 14th in a field of 47 racers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a third-place team finish in a field of four squads at the Leopard Invitational 6k, held at Lafayette College's Metzgar Fields on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 90 points and an average 6k time of 25:38.75.

Senior Cassidy Weimer placed 22nd in a field of 179 racers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a 12th-place team finish in a field of 20 teams at the Princeton Invitational 6k, held at Princeton University's West Windsor Fields on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 256 points and an average 6k time of 22:48.

On Saturday morning, the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad was given its first opportunity to race the Oatlands Plantation course, the site of the upcoming 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship (Oct. 28). SJU would take full advantage of this opportunity as the Hawks, placing four in the top ten, won the George Mason Invitational with 44 points in a field of eight squads. SJU edged past A-10 foes Duquesne (45 pts) and host-school George Mason (54 pts) for the victory.

Sophomore Rose Barrett placed 118th in a field of 198 finishers to lead the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad to a 22nd-place team finish in a field of 24 in the 6k Brown Race of the 2017 Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon. The Hawks totaled 605 points in the race, which was hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus.
