Men's Cross Country Claims Third at IC4A Championship

In his final collegiate cross country race, graduate student tri-captain Dan Savage ran five miles in a collegiate-best time of 25:37.9 to finish 11th in a field of 203 runners and to lead the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad to a third-place team finish in a field of 25 teams at the 2017 IC4A Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday afternoon. All five of SJU's scorers - Savage, sophomore Zach Michon (18th), senior David Dorsey (32nd), junior Jack Daly (35th), and senior Collin Crilly (40th) - earned IC4A All-East honors for placing in the top 40.

Men's Cross Country's Savage, Dorsey Repeat on A-10 All-Academic Team
Men's Cross Country 11/14/2017

For the second year in a row, both graduate student tri-captain Dan Savage and senior tri-captain David Dorsey have been voted onto the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. The team is comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their performance on the trails as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.

Graduate student Dan Savage led the Hawks for his fifth race this season to lead the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad to an 11th-place team finish in a field of 26 squads at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, held at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus on Friday morning. The Hawks put three in the top 60 en route to a 327-point performance.

Ranked 10th in the region, the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad will head to the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship this Friday, November 10. The 10k race is slated to begin at 11:45 a.m., hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus. Saint Joseph's seven runners to represent the Hawks at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship will be selected from the eight-member group of graduate student captain Dan Savage, senior captain Collin Crilly, senior captain David Dorsey, senior Anthony Morelli, juniors Jack Daly and Shawn Hutchison, and sophomores Josh Clark and Zach Michon.

After a dazzling, second-place team finish at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship on Saturday, the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad has been ranked 10th in a field of 15 ranked teams in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Cross Country Week 6 Regional Rankings for the Mid-Atlantic Region, it was announced on Monday afternoon. The Hawks were ranked 12th last week.

Led by graduate student Dan Savage's seventh-place finish, the Hawks put four in the top 20 to earn a second-place team finish in a field of 14 squads at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted by George Mason University at the Oatlands Plantation on Saturday morning. Saint Joseph's averaged an 8k time of 25:52.04 and earned 84 points. Dayton won the meet with 66 points, while George Washington took third with 95 points. With their top-15 finishes, Savage and sophomore Zach Michon (15th) earned A-10 All-Conference honors.

Men's Cross Country Heads to Atlantic 10 Championship

The Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad is set to race the 2017 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship this Saturday, October 28. Hosted by George Mason University at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va., the five-mile race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. The Hawks, who finished fifth a year ago, were predicted to place fifth this fall according to the A-10's preseason poll, with voting conducted by the league's 14 head coaches back in late August.

The Hawks were ranked ninth last week.

Gallagher, Men's Cross Country Team Win Leopard Invitational

Sophomore Colin Gallagher won the Leopard Invitational 8k race and the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad put seven Hawks in the top 10 to dominate the competition and to place first as a team in a field of four squads at Lafayette's Metzgar Fields on Saturday morning. SJU totaled 16 points on the day and an average 8k time of 27:03, defeating runner-up, host-school Lafayette by 47 points.

Savage's 8k PR Leads Men's Cross Country to 12th at Princeton

Graduate student Dan Savage placed 29th in a field of 205 racers to lead the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad to a 12th-place team finish in a field of 21 teams at the Princeton Invitational 8k, held at Princeton University's West Windsor Fields on Saturday morning. The Hawks totaled 285 points and an average 8k time of 25:06.

The Hawks were ranked 10th last week.

Men's Cross Country Wins George Mason Invitational

On Saturday morning, the Saint Joseph's men's cross country squad was given its first opportunity to race the Oatlands Plantation course, the site of the upcoming 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship (Oct. 28). SJU would take full advantage of this opportunity as the Hawks, placing four in the top ten and five in the top 15, won the George Mason Invitational with 34 points in a field of eight squads. SJU defeated A-10 foes Duquesne (66 pts) and host-school George Mason (79 pts) for the victory.
